As Turkey's first and only glass fiber producer, Şişecam has operated in this key field, which provides one of the core inputs of the composite industry, since 1975. Combining its 45 years of experience in glass fiber with state-of-the-art technology, Şişecam commissioned its new glass fiber investment in Balıkesir in early 2019. Şişecam is one of Europe's most important glass fiber producers. The glass fiber produced at Şişecam's Balıkesir facility is exported and used in countries around the globe. Currently, Şişecam turns local resources, primarily boron, into value-added products at its Balıkesir glass fiber facility. Driven by its expertise in this area, Şişecam provides input to numerous industries – including wind energy, electronics, automotive, construction, defense, marine and engineering plastics – while also serving as a solution partner.
