Medium-Coarse PORTAFLAME? SG grades are produced from carefully selected, synthetic aluminium hydroxide (ATH). This range of fine PORTAFLAME? SG grades offers the formulator the opportunity to incorporate ATH in different polymer systems (at high loading level). These grades are preferred when higher loading level, high bulk density or low moisture level are needed. Medium-Coarse PORTAFLAME? SG grades are ground halogen-free flame retardant (HFFR) fillers, used in a broad range of applications. The mechanism of flame-retardancy is mainly based on the endothermic decomposition of the aluminium hydroxide (heat-sink effect) while simultaneously releasing water vapour. This reaction starts at about 200C. Medium-Coarse PORTAFLAME? SG grades are not classified as a dangerous substance (DSD and CLP) and do not contain Substances of Very High Concern (SVHC), including the substances formed during the thermal decomposition of the ATH during a fire.
