Description

An alkoxide is the conjugate base of an alcohol and therefore consists of an organic group bonded to a negatively charged oxygen atom. Alkoxides are used in key sets of chemical reactions such as eliminations, cyclisations as well as production of asymmetric alcohols, carbonylation reactions for esters and more commonly for selective nucleophilic reagents providing regiochemical control in pharmaceutical API synthesis.
